Zambia: National Coach Grant Preferred ‘Special Character’ Daka To Have Left Leicester City

Zambia coach Avram Grant believes striker Patson Daka should have left Leicester City Football Club in the transfer window. ,

The 24 year old missed out on a transfer deadline day move to Bournemouth.

During the summer transfer window Daka was also linked Roma, Monaco, AC Milan and Everton.

He is yet to appear for Leicester City under new coach Enzo Maresca in the Championship.

“To be honest, I will tell you that I am concerned [lack of game time ] , as I know Patson Daka, even the last game he did not play for his club,” the former West Ham and Chelsea coach told Zambian journalists at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium on Tuesday.

Grant also highlighted Daka’s prowess in front goal with he national team.

The former Kafue Celtic and Red Bull Salzburg striker has an incredible 9 goals in his last 9 caps.

“When he plays for us, he is fantastic, so he is a special character.

“I preferred he would move to another club, but it didn’t come out.

“Now that he is at Leicester, I wish he could play more for his club, because he is good and a natural scorer.

Daka is currently with the national team on international duty.

The Chipolopolo Boys will fly out to Comoros on Friday morning ahead of Saturday’s 9 pm kick off.

Zambia has already qualified to the CAF 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
