Western Sahara: The National Union of Sahrawi Women Participates in the International Conference of Basic Women in Tunisia

Member of the Executive Office in charge of information for the National Union of Sahrawi Women, Ms. Al-Ajla, Sheikh Ola, will participate in the International Conference of Grassroots Women, which will be hosted by the capital, Tunis, from 04 to 9 September.

Representatives from about 30 countries from around the world will participate in the conference, representing national and regional organizations and associations.

The work of the conference started yesterday, Sunday, with a march from the 14th of January Square on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in the center of the capital, Tunis, towards the City of Culture, which will host the official opening of the conference.

The conference raises the problems and concerns of grassroots women, who are working and toiling women in various sectors and fields, as confirmed by Ms. Amira Dalsh, member of the conference’s preparation committee, in a statement to Radio Mosaique.

The olive tree was chosen as an emblem for the conference due to its symbolism in Tunisia, noting that the previous two sessions were held in Venezuela and Nepal in 2011 and 2016.
