The leader of the Free Constitutional Party, Abir Moussi, began, on Tuesday, a hunger strike in prison, where she has been held since October, to protest against the rights to freedom and political activity.
Abir Moussi, one of Tunisian President Kais Saied’s main opponents, was detained at the entrance to the presidential palace on suspicion of aggression with intent to cause chaos, Reuters reported. According to the same source, the party leader’s lawyers said in a statement that the leader of the Free Constitutional Party would be on hunger strike for 16 days, coinciding with a campaign to highlight violence against women in Tunisia. Before being arrested, the Tunisian opponent warned in a statement against “attempts to create legal obstacles to prevent her from participating in the presidential elections” expected for next year.
