The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) of Mozambique warned, this Monday, of a heatwave that will affect, until Friday, three provinces in the south of the country with thermometers approaching 40 degrees Celsius.
The alert issued in the early hours of today is valid until midnight on the 24th of this month and identifies as “risk areas” seven districts in the province of Maputo, in addition to the capital city and Matola, 13 districts of Gaza, as well as the city of Xai-Xai and three districts of Inhambane, according to Lusa.
“INAM predicts the continued occurrence of a heat wave, characterized by hot to very hot and humid weather”, says the institution’s warning, adding the possibility of thunderstorms and the prospect of maximum temperatures “which could vary from 35 to 38 degrees”, it can be read.
