South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor Holds Bilateral Talks with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington

South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, engaged in significant bilateral discussions during her visit to Washington. Upon her arrival, she was warmly welcomed by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who lauded the strong partnership between th壯陽藥 e two nations.

The U.S. and South Africa have been actively collaborating across multiple sectors, including health, education, environment, and the digital economy, as stated by the U.S. State Department. These discussions also encompassed regional issues and cooperation on climate, energy, infrastructure, and healthcare.

South Africa holds a prominent position as the largest U.S. trade partner in Africa. Notably, approximately 600 American businesses are operating within South Africa’s borders, with the total value of bilateral trade nearing $18 billion.

Minister Pandor emphasized the enduring significance of the partnership between South Africa and the United States. She conveyed her eagerness to share insights into developments within Southern Africa and the broader African continent. Pandor highlighted the essential role of the United States in this cooperative endeavor.

Notably, Naledi Pandor’s visit transpired against the backdrop of increased strain on the strategic partnership between South Africa and the United States due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The South African government’s stance on this international crisis, characterized by its unwillingness to demand an immediate end to hostilities and the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine, has been a focal point of discussion.
