Johannesburg Battered by Destructive Hailstorm Causing Havoc Across the City


A sudden and intense hailstorm swept through multiple areas of Johannesburg on Monday evening, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The hailstones, reported to be as large as golf balls, pounded several parts of the city, causing blockages on highways and wreaking havoc on gardens, vehicles, buildings, and犀利士 roads.

According to TimesLIVE, the ferocity of the hailstorm caught residents off guard, with the hailstones causing substantial damage to properties and cars. The intensity of the storm resulted in extensive destruction in car parks and other public spaces across Johannesburg.

Robert Mulaudzi, the spokesperson for Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, informed eNCA TV channel that the storm led to flash floods in some areas of the city. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Emergency services swiftly responded to the affected areas, providing aid to impacted families.

Despite efforts to manage the aftermath, authorities remain on high alert, ready to assist and respond promptly to any additional incidents caused by the hailstorm. Jacqueline Modika from the South African Weather Service informed News 24 that the weather conditions might continue into the following day, albeit with reduced intensity, advising residents to remain cautious.
