Somalia: Floods affect more than a million people

Floods in Somalia, caused by torrential rains since the beginning of October, have affected more than 1.17 million people, including around 335,000 displaced people, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Saturday. by Reuters.

The camps for internally displaced people are the most affected, forcing many people to move for a second time, said the United Nations agency, on the social network X (formerly Twitter), warning that around 1.6 million people could be affected by the phenomenon.

In a statement released on Thursday, OCHA said 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land could be destroyed by floods.
