Sao Tome & Principe: “General” João Seria on the List of the 100 Personalities Most Influential Black Personalities in Lusophony

The online platform Bantumen returns this year to choose the 100 most influential black personalities in Lusophony, repeating the 2021 initiative, Vanessa Sanches, founder of that digital magazine, told Lusa agency this Monday.

BABTUMEN, an electronic magazine in Portuguese, has just published the list of the 100 most Influential black personalities in Lusophony, including the emblematic São Tomé singer “General”, João Seria, the legendary vocalist of Conjunto Africa Negra de São Tomé and Prince.

Power List 100, explains that “General” João Seria “is one of the most emblematic singers from São Tomé of the last century. He is the leader of the group “Conjunto África Negra”, founded in the 70s on the Island of São Tomé, which, in addition to marking its space in the country in an irreproachable way is one of the bands that until today makes itself felt in the CPLP space and in other parameters of the world.

In July 2021, he was honored by the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe for his appreciable contribution to the enhancement of national culture, especially in the musical field. the singer Joss Stone stands out. “General João Séria” interprets several widely known songs, such as “Aninha”, “Carambola Nova Moca”, “Pedlêlo” and others.
