Sao Tome and Principe: PM Represents The State In The General Assembly Of The United Nations In New York

The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Patrice Trovoada, who is in New York representing São Tomé and Príncipe at the United Nations General Assembly, participated in the High-Level Political Forum on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, announced the country’s government source.

In this meeting that precedes the 78th UN General Assembly, the Heads of States and Governments carried out a comprehensive review of the status of the 17 SDGs, at a time when we are halfway towards the goal defined to achieve these objectives.

In his speech, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, called for a global recovery of the Sustainable Development Goals and stated that only 15 percent of the objectives are on track. In this 78th UN General Assembly that began Tuesday -Friday, the 19th, the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Patrice Trovoada, will give his speech today the 20th, the second day of the meeting.

This year’s United Nations General Assembly has the theme “Rebuilding trust and rekindling global solidarity: accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity and sustainability for all people” Remember that the Prime Minister participates in this meeting accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Affairs, Gareth Guadalupe,who holds the Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities portfolio.

The theme of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations is “Rebuilding hope and reinvigorating solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Global Development Goals through peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability”.
