Rwanda: MTN In Collaboration With City of Kigali To Revolutionize Motorcycling

In a groundbreaking partnership, MTN Rwanda and Mobile Money Rwanda Limited (MMRL) have joined hands with the City of Kigali to revolutionize motorcycling by introducing stylish new MTN/MMRL branded jackets. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to empowering riders, enhancing customer experiences, and contributing to the financial well-being of the community.

The branding partnership will be implemented in phases. Initially, motorcyclists will receive MoMoPay codes/QR codes, enabling them to offer passengers seamless payment options, thereby elevating the overall customer experience. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to become MTN agents, selling airtime and earning commissions, creating a new income stream.

In the subsequent phase, motorcyclists will benefit from personalized rates for services like MoKash, Mobile Money Rwanda’s microfinancing service, and access to Macye Macye, MTN’s device financing program, among others.

Chantal Kagame, CEO of Mobile Money Rwanda Limited, expressed her gratitude to the City of Kigali for this partnership and emphasized that the branded jackets symbolize not only a shift in attire but a transformative leap towards enriching urban mobility and embracing contemporary solutions. She highlighted how MoMoPay helps motorcyclists support Rwanda’s cashless agenda and advance digital payment solutions, making traditional cash payments in the mobility sector a thing of the past.

Each branded jacket will prominently display the motorist’s identity number, ensuring easy identification, and feature a dedicated USSD code for the seamless purchase of MTN “Irekure” bundles, providing commuters with convenient and affordable mobile services.

Mapula Bodibe, CEO of MTN Rwanda, views this initiative as a remarkable milestone towards a more connected and innovative urban landscape. She noted that it reflects their commitment to innovation and their dedication to extending convenience and adding value to the lives of their communities. By equipping riders with tools to offer telecommunication services and convenient digital financial transactions, they are fostering a dynamic ecosystem that bridges technology and everyday life.

The goal of this initiative is to empower motorcyclists to improve their livelihoods and enhance accessibility while creating new avenues for MTN valued customers to engage with its services effortlessly.
