Mauritius: Circular Economy Exhibition Promotes Sustainability And Innovation In The Country, Showcasing Commitment Of Super U And Cœur de Ville

The Circular Economy Exhibition, jointly organized by the Super U Mauritius Group and Cœur de Ville Flacq, is dedicated to sustainability, innovation and cooperation. This event highlights this group’s commitment to waste management, recycling and the circular economy. This exhibition will be held until Wednesday.

Pascal Tsin, Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the importance of sustainability and the circular economy. “The circular economy requires systemic change and awareness, education, collaboration and innovation remain key elements of this revolution. We firmly believe that sustainability is the key to our future. The Circular Economy Exhibition is a showcase of our commitment to a more environmentally friendly future,” he says.

The event was an opportunity to recall the commitment of Super U and Cœur de Ville to waste management and the circular economy. In 2021, these brands launched two similar exhibitions in Grand’Baie and Tamarin, and this third edition at Cœur de Ville Flacq is a continuation of their commitment to sustainability. The exhibition will be extended to Cœur de Ville Tamarin from September 22 to 29, then to Cœur de Ville Grand Bay from October 2 to 9.

The exhibition highlights several key partners in the circular economy who play an essential role in promoting sustainability in Mauritius. These partners include

Plankton Recycling Co-operative Society Ltd, which recycles glass and valorizes its derivatives;
WeCycle Ltd, specializing in the collection and recycling of recyclable waste;

We-Recycle Mauritius’ mission is to educate and raise public awareness and collect recyclable waste;
Mission Verte, association dedicated to the preservation of the environment and the circular economy;
Bioil Ltd, which transforms used cooking oil into biofuel;

BioBin, offering an innovative solution for the management of organic waste;
Surfrider Mauritius, which makes products from recycled plastics; FoodWise, fighting against food waste; and

BEM Recycling, specialized in the recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
In addition to a musical performance by the ABAIM group, creating a spirit of community, the audience was able to discover and explore the world of circular economy solutions thanks to informative videos on the sustainable practices of Super U, Cœur de Ville and these partners.

Moreover, in order to promote and encourage employees to commit to the culture of creativity, recycling and sustainability within their organization, Cœur de Ville presented the Mont to Bisiklet awards, a internal competition aimed at highlighting their talents through innovative projects, as well as the launch of a Hanging Garden, a project of the Leo Club of Flacq, symbolizing green innovation and the resilience of nature.
