Mauritania: Launch Of The Second Edition Of Laayoune Festival For The Development Of Culture And Heritage

The activities of the second edition of the Laayoune Festival for the Development of Culture and Heritage kicked off on Friday evening, which will continue for three days. It includes cultural activities, artistic evenings, lectures and seminars, in addition to a competition in memorizing the Holy Qur’an and the noble Prophet’s biography.

The organizers said that the program of the current edition includes organizing a special agricultural day in Laayoune province and a health day, in addition to honoring students who excelled in national certificates at the level of the capital of the Hodh El Gharbi.

Minister of Culture, Ahmed Ould Sid Ahmed Ould Ejah, stressed that this festival and other comprehensive cultural meetings are the ideal framework for communication, dialogue, transfer of experiences between generations, and studying the most effective ways to preserve cultural identity and invest it in achieving development.

Head of the Laayoune Festival for the Development of Culture and Heritage, Mokhtar Ould Agwizi, confirmed that the festival aims to develop efforts related to national culture and heritage in general and the heritage and culture of the Western Basin in particular.

Ould Agwizi added that the objectives of the Laayoune Festival for the Development of Culture and Heritage in its second edition are to spread a culture of brotherhood and acquaintance, and to build bridges of friendship and communication to make diversity stronger and more beautiful
