Mali: Green Jobs And Entrepreneurship – The Netherlands Development Organization launches Go Green In The Country

SNV is supported in the implementation of this initiative by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Ministry of National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training. It is to respond to the dual need for integration that the Dutch Organization initiated the Go Green project which will cover the Regions of Ségou, Sikasso, Mopti and the District of Bamako. Objective: to promote the professional integration of young people through employability and entrepreneurship in various sectors of the green economy.

For Minister Bagayoko Aminata Traoré, Go Green will guarantee the participation of women and men, regardless of their literacy levels or any other social determinant. “It will also make it possible to focus the national employment policy and the national vocational training policy on the opportunities offered by green employment and entrepreneurship to young men and women,” she said. explain. Ms. Bagayoko Aminata Traoré stressed that green jobs make it possible to improve the efficient use of energy and raw materials. They limit greenhouse gas emissions, minimize pollution, restore the ecosystem and contribute to adaptation to the effects of climate change.

According to project manager Esther Pedie, Go Green is funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The planned budget amounts to approximately 3.20 billion CFA francs for two years. During her intervention, the national director of SNV in Mali, Jeanette De Regt, mentioned the specific objectives of the project: strengthening methods of job creation and green self-employment in the agri-food and renewable energy fields. , water, forestry and finance. The Project will also promote the creation of new green jobs with existing employers with a focus on young women.

This is done through strengthening policies for a favorable environment, entrepreneurship, youth participation, dialogue between stakeholders in the green ecosystem and business development. Also, Jeanette De Regt underlined the expected impact in terms of contribution to the ecologization (greening) of existing jobs, training of new talents and creation of sustainable businesses with a job multiplier effect, estimated at 10 jobs created by start-up after 5 years. In total, 2,400 groups of young people, men and women, are targeted by the Project.
