Mali has just launched the second phase of the project for professional training, integration, and support for rural youth entrepreneurship (FIER 2)
This project, with an investment of 100 million dollars, is being implemented by the Ministry of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training of Mali
Its goal is to create training and employment insertion opportunities in the agricultural sector for young Malians in rural areas. Its ambition is to create specifically 40,000 direct jobs
This project, with a cost of 59.5 billion CFA francs (100 million dollars), targets rural youth, women and men aged 15 to 40, of which 40% are young women. Among them, those aged 15 to 17 will have access to vocational training opportunities and will then be individually or collectively integrated into the local economy,” said the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Bagayoko Aminata Traore, as quoted by the Ecofin agency
The government hopes, through this project, to provide the sector with qualified human resources to make it more resilient and increase its contribution to the national economy
In Mali, nearly 77% of the population lives in rural areas with agriculture as the main activity
