Former President and the flag bearer of the opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama Pledges to Finish Uncompleted Projects, Including NPP Initiatives, if Elected in 2024.

John Dramani Mahama asserted that the NDC stands as a patriotic and principled political party, firmly embracing the essence of continuity, with an unwavering commitment to efficiently utilize the hard-earned resources of the nation’s taxpayers.

In a resolute declaration, Mahama offered a promise of dedication and accountability, asserting, “I solemnly pledge that upon our return to power, we shall diligently resume and bring to completion all projects that have been left in limbo. Even those endeavors which the current NPP administration leaves unfinished, we shall take up and successfully conclude. It is crucial to remember that these projects are funded by the sweat and toil of the Ghanaian taxpayer, and to abandon them is tantamount to squandering the financial contributions of our fellow citizens.”

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the former President made these remarks during his address at the NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Stakeholders Forum held in Accra.

The forum served as a platform for representatives from diverse Zongo communities and Muslim institutions, both affiliated with and outside of the party, to convene. Their purpose was to exchange insights, discuss shared interests, and foster social bonds, thereby strengthening community ties.

A notable presence at the forum was Sheikh Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam.

Mr. Mahama’s commitment to finishing uncompleted projects stemmed from his accusation that the current administration had neglected significant initiatives, particularly those initiated in Zongo communities, by his party during his tenure until 2016.

Mr Mahama expressed his gratitude for the immense support his party had been enjoying from the Zongo communities and Islamic fraternity over the years and pledged to never take it for granted.

In this regard, he said the party would continue to collaborate and engage them periodically in order to capture grievances and concerns and work towards addressing them.

During his address, he seized the moment to encourage all eligible citizens to engage in the ongoing restricted voter registration. Simultaneously, he called upon the responsible authorities to refrain from discriminatory actions, particularly those directed at individuals they suspected might not be Ghanaians, solely judging by their names.

Ismaila Ali Horoya, the Coordinator of the NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus, explained that the reason behind the forum’s organization was the acknowledgment of significant untapped potential within the local communities. He emphasized that it was a collective responsibility for all caucus members to harness this potential and create opportunities, particularly for the youth in the Muslim community.

Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Chairman of the NDC Greater Accra Regional division, emphasized the need for increased unity within the party as they geared up for the forthcoming elections. He also urged everyone to support the regional chapter’s “Agenda 25,” with the aim of significantly boosting the total vote count by adding 500,000 votes from the Greater Accra region.
