Madagascar: The Republic’s First Special Economic And Commercial Mission To Israel

The Israel and Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has decided to strengthen cooperation with that of Mahajanga. It was formed in order to facilitate and develop commercial, socio-cultural and technical relations between Israel and Madagascar.

Following its creation five months ago in Antananarivo, the first Economic and Commercial Mission (MEC) to Israel, of the Israel and Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ccisma), was officially presented yesterday, in the premises of the CCI of Mahajanga (Ccim). Ccisma will organize a mission, from October 29 to November 8, in Tel Aviv, Israel. This, as part of the promotion of Vita Malagasy products. “The objectives are to inform national economic operators about Ccisma and its role. But above all to encourage the active participation of companies and economic operators from all regions, with the aim of promoting the national label. We invited the CCIM to participate in this MEC because it has economic potential to develop,” says the secretary general of the CCIM,

“Why Israel? Because it has a market of six hundred million people, from South Africa to the Middle East and even Europe including France and the USA. The interest is not only an exchange with Israelis alone, but also with their partners. The goal is their business portfolio. Israel is a country located in the Middle East that has experienced remarkable economic development in recent decades. The country has managed to develop a prosperous economy thanks to its focus on innovation and technology. It devotes a significant budget to the high-technology sector, in particular in the fields of agriculture, IT, telecommunications and biotechnology,” summarizes Eric Andriampara during his speech.

Opportunity

“This cooperation and this economic and commercial mission are a business opportunity and an important offer that should not be ignored,” specifies the president of the CCIM, Mourad Estratoui. For his part, the governor of the Boeny region, Mokhtar Andriantomanga, thanked the initiative and strongly advised that local farmers will have to abandon monoculture to open up to other practices to be more successful. Privileged sectors and companies from all sectors of activity, interested in commercial relations with Israel, are mainly project leaders looking for investment in Israel. Cooperation mainly concerns the agri-food sector within the framework of agricultural aggregation, digital technology, tourism, biodiversity, energy, water and sanitation, health, mines, artistic craftsmanship. Israel and Madagascar have maintained diplomatic ties since 1960. Bilateral relations have developed gradually over the years, with commercial exchanges and collaborations in various fields.

Madagascar mainly imports chemicals and pharmaceuticals, electronic equipment from Israel, while Malagasy exports to Israel mainly include agricultural products, such as vanilla, coffee and all kinds of spices. The two countries have also cooperated in the fields of agriculture, health, education and sustainable development. Israel brings its technical expertise to help Madagascar improve crops.
