Madagascar: Public Primary School Teacher Trained To Strengthen And Improve Teaching Ability

A pedagogical day was organized for teachers in EPPs. Its objective is to strengthen their capacities.

For an improvement in teaching. Public primary school teachers (EPP) are demanding capacity building. Since this Wednesday, these EPP teachers have been attending the educational days which are held at the start of each school year.

The educational day is organized to help teachers better share lessons and education. It’s a kind of training of trainers. Aside from shared methods to use when teaching, they ask for even more. “We want to strengthen our knowledge of the French language.

The essence of teaching in Madagascar at the moment is to have a good base in language,” asks a teacher from an EPP in Ambohimanarina. The objective of the educational day is to be able to raise the level of students for the next school year.

To do this, raising the level of teachers is also essential. These teachers believe that they are not up to par with the development of education in Madagascar. “The pedagogical day is important, but the training must comply with the demands of education on the ground,” explains a school principal.

French language training is highly appreciated and requested by Fram masters. An important solution is also to be self-taught for this kind of knowledge. First of all, having a good foundation in French should be a filter of choice for recruiters, even if it is a temporary worker.

They are asking for free French language courses to improve their knowledge and education skills. Sometimes, the methods to be applied to the teaching of each subject are on the training menu.
