Kenya: US And The State Sign Agreement To Support Security Operations

by admin-anb

The United States and Kenya signed, this Monday, an agreement to provide support and resources for international mobilizations to guarantee security, on the eve of the African country leading the multinational peacekeeping force in Haiti.

The United States Secretary of State for Defense, Lloyd Austin, and his Kenyan counterpart, Aden Duale, signed, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, the agreement that sets out the main lines of Defense relations between the two countries for the next five years, in a context of intensifying the fight against Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabab extremists.

According to Lusa, which cites US news agency AP, Lloyd Austin thanked Kenya for volunteering to lead the force that will combat gang violence in Haiti, and assured that the US government will work with Congress to guarantee funding of 100 million dollars, which it committed to in meetings on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
