Joe Biden signs order to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, signed, this Monday, an executive order to regulate the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, placing privacy, security and equity safeguards and calling for international cooperation in the matter.

“To realize the promise of AI and avoid risk, we must regulate this technology”, stated the President, quoted by Lusa, when signing the executive order and after noting that AI is now everywhere.

The order is divided into eight areas: AI security, citizen privacy, protection of equity and civil rights, use in healthcare, impact on the labor market, innovation and competition, international cooperation and responsible use by the government, it says.
