Ireland’s Alan Fisher Snatches Guinness World Record from Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci.
Guinness World Records (GWR) has officially recognized Irish chef Alan Fisher as the new holder of two culinary records, dethroning Nigerian chef Hilda Baci 壯陽藥 in the process. Fisher, owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, broke the records for the longest cooking marathon (individual) and the longest baking marathon (individual). In a remarkable feat, Fisher spent over 160 hours in the kitchen, leaving Baci’s previous record in the dust.
Hilda Baci, the 26-year-old Nigerian chef, had previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. She embarked on her culinary marathon in May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen endeavor. However, her record was marred by a mistake in calculating her rest breaks early on in the attempt, leading to nearly seven hours being deducted from her final total.
Baci had originally set out to achieve a record of 100 hours, surpassing the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Lata Tondon of India in 2019. Unfortunately, her minor miscalculation cost her the title, and it was Alan Fisher who emerged as the new record holder.
Fisher’s impressive feat also included claiming the title for the longest baking marathon (individual), previously held by Wendy Sandner of the United States. Fisher’s dedication in the kitchen saw him work for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest between the two attempts, ultimately securing his place in the Guinness World Records.
