Investments financed by Poser in 25 million escudos continue in 2022 – MAA

Investments in the agricultural sector in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, amounting to around 25 million escudos, financed under the program to promote rural socio-economic activities (Poser) will continue in 2002.

The guarantee is the delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) in Porto Novo, Joel Barros, who informed that all investments covering the localities of Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Manuel Lopes and Ponte Sul/Chã de Mato, started in 2021, continue this year, thus reassuring farmers.

In Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, said Joel Barros, the process of installing the post-harvest center and construction of reservoirs is underway, infrastructures that are part of the project on the valorisation and efficient use of the natural resources of this locality, which also includes the installation of the drip irrigation system.

This project mainly consists of reinforcing the cultivation of yams, a product widely cultivated in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo.

In Ponte Sul, in addition to the installation of the irrigation system located on 22 plots donated by the State to young local farmers, the project will also include the replacement of the old pipes of the pumping system of the local borehole and the reinforcement of the solar park.

In Manuel Lopes, a reservoir has already been built, and now, in 2022, this valley will be covered with a drip irrigation system, according to the delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in Porto Novo, which thus reassures farmers regarding the implementation of investments.
