Haruna Iddrisu Urges Parliamentary Probe into Ghana’s 600-Strong Delegation at COP28.

Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has called upon Parliament to investigate the reports of the Ghanaian government registering over 600 delegates for the ongoing Conference of Parties (COP28).

As per information from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Ghana’s representation at COP28 in Dubai has escalated from 350 last year to 618. The delegation consists of 95 individuals on the official parties list and an additional 523 on the party overflow list. Speaking in Parliament on Monday, December 4, 2023, the former Minority Leader 壯陽藥 raised concerns regarding the financial burden of such a large delegation on the state’s finances.

“Mr. Speaker, considering the current economic challenges, how can Ghana afford to support a delegation of 618 persons? Is it in line with the economic welfare of Ghanaians? Moreover, Mr. Speaker, I notice the presence of a presidential delegation here at COP28… I am calling for a committee to examine this matter,” he stressed.
