AFTER the success of the 7th season of the operation called “From light to sight”, the Samu social Gabonais launched the 8th act of this same operation last Saturday. This will be spread over twenty days. Like the previous editions, it is a question of eradicating ocular pathologies in economically weak people. All eye diseases are treated during this period: cataract and glaucoma surgery, consultations, eye funds, medical counseling, laser against diabetic retinopathy… All free of charge.

For the success of this season, the coordinator of the Samu social, Dr Wenceslas Yaba, has once again surrounded himself with local specialists and experts from elsewhere. The goal is to restore the sight of 1,000 people. For the time being, since the start of this caravan last weekend, hundreds of patients from the hinterland have been parading at the headquarters of Derrière-la-prison in the 1st arrondissement of the commune of Libreville in Gabon. “I am proud to see these compatriots go from obscurity to light in a block of the latest generation without paying a single round,” rejoiced the initiator of this caravan, Dr Yaba. It is because sight is life that the Gabonese Samu social teams take turns in the different localities.
