Football Association of Malawi’s (Fam) First Instant Body (FIB) has given licences to 11 more clubs to participate in the TNM Super League next season after meeting club licence requirements.

TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets got the highest marks after scoring 97 percent followed by Moyale Barracks on 93 percent.

The FIB met at the weekend to review the applications of all clubs that failed the test last week.

After the review, a total of 11 clubs were granted licences whereas four clubs failed the test.

This means 12 clubs have been granted licences after capital city side Blue Eagles were the only side that got an outright licence last week.

Fam Licencing and Compliance Manager Casper Jangale confirmed that Bullets and Moyale scored highly.

However, Jangale said four teams namely Red Lions, Rumphi United, Kamuzu Barracks and Mighty Tigers failed the test and have been given until Friday to sort out the issues.

“We need to commend FIB for doing a great job. This is a step in the right direction. Some of the clubs have failed because they still have balances on licence fees,” Jangale said. According to Jangale, the lowest club got 73 percent.

The clubs that have been granted licences include Civil Service United, Silver Strikers, Sable Farming, Karonga United, Mighty Wanderers, TN Stars, Mafco and Dedza Dynamos.

The football season is expected to start on March 5 with a Charity Shield match before the kick-off of the TNM Super League a week later.

Meanwhile, Fam has approved seven stadiums to be official venues for matches in the 2022-23 football season.

The facilities are Kamuzu, Silver, Mpira, Kasungu, Balaka, Mulanje and Karonga stadiums.

However, five stadiums namely Rumphi, Civo, Mzuzu, Chitowe and Nankhaka have not been approved pending another round of inspection this week.

Jangale has said Dedza Stadium will be inspected at a later date and that it will not be used during the opening month of the season.
