Egyptian Agricultural Exports See Significant Increase in First Half of 2024

The Ministry of Agriculture announced that Egypt’s total agricultural exports reached 4.9 million tons in the first half of 2024, marking an increase of 300,000 tons compared to the same period in 2023. This growth highlights the country’s robust agricultural sector and its rising contribution to the national economy.

According to a half-yearly report received by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, the dollar value of the exported fresh agricultural goods amounted to $2.9 billion, an increase of $600 million compared to the same period last year. The report, prepared by Supervisor of Foreign Agricultural Relations and Central Administration of Plant Quarantine Saad Moussa, underscores the success of Egypt’s strategic efforts to enhance its agricultural export performance.

Minister Farouk emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture is diligently working to implement the president’s directives to boost agricultural exports and support the agricultural quarantine system. These efforts aim to ensure the quality and safety of Egyptian agricultural products, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in international markets.

Agricultural exports are crucial drivers of the Egyptian economy, providing significant revenue and supporting rural livelihoods. The Ministry’s focus on expanding export markets and improving the agricultural quarantine system is expected to sustain this growth momentum, further solidifying Egypt’s position as a leading exporter of fresh agricultural produce.
