DR Congo is Confident in the Work of the Angolan Mediation to End the Tension with Rwanda

“The mediation is advancing, it is good and we have confidence in this mediation. When I say we, it is President Félix Tshisekedi, the Government and the Congolese people. We all believe that this mediation will be a success”, Christopher Lutundula told the press. Pen’Apala, at the end of the meeting with President João Lourenço.

Regarding the meeting, he declared that it was part of the consultation process that President João Lourenço is carrying out with his counterparts in the DRC and Rwanda.

The intention, he added, is to pass on information and facilitate President João Lourenço to fulfill his role as mediator designated by the African Union: “The meeting served to pass on additional information for the successful fulfillment of his role as mediator”.

He stressed that the desire of the DRC is that the work that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is developing to put an end to the conflict, ends and returns to dedicate himself to the fullest in Angola’s internal affairs.

“He is acting president of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region and he must also dedicate himself to this and carry out the work of our sub-region”, he acknowledged.

He said that the DRC is very interested in ending the conflict quickly: “It is a wish, because we want to see the development of our country, under the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi”.
