The Global Black Impact Summit (GBIS) is pleased to announce that creative producer Pravini Baboeram has joined the 2024 summit as a featured speaker.
Set to take place February, 2024, in Dubai, Baboeram will share insights into creative projects that create sustainable impacts while promoting activism, creative social concepts and art under the event theme, Black Excellence: Unleashing the Unexplored Potential for Global Unity.
Baboeram is a community organizer, decolonial thinker, and creative producer with a strong commitment to social struggle and the liberation of colonized communities. She currently serves as Program Manager at Expertise Center for Diversity Policy. Baboeram also co-founded 7th Gen Creatives, a production house that focuses on sustainable impacts and inspired by the Indigenous Haudenosaunee philosophy’s 7th generation principle, that impacts will continue for at least several generations after us.
Additionally, Baboeram serves as a consultant, leveraging her knowledge, networks, and experiences to advise organizations on effective interventions for strengthening diversity and inclusion. This involves conducting workshops and offering policy and project execution advice, as seen in her involvement with the Pre-Academic Programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Noteworthy projects under Baboeram’s leadership include the Tetary Must Rise crowdfunding campaign, advocating for the replacement of a colonizer’s statue with that of Hindustani resistance fighter Janey Tetary in Suriname. She is also the originator of Indian History Month by Sarnámihuis, highlighting the historical contributions of the Indian diaspora. Baboeram’s creative endeavors extend to ‘The Uprising,’ a music documentary exploring the anti-racism and decolonial movements in Europe.
As an activist, Baboeram is committed to an inclusive society. During GBIS 2024, Baboeram will share her insights and experiences, contributing to crucial discussions on diversity, inclusion, and the transformative potential of creative activism.
