Like all Ivorian diplomatic representations around the world, the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in France commemorated the 62nd anniversary of the independence of Côte d’Ivoire, on Sunday August 7, 2022, through a colorful ceremony.
An opportunity for Maurice Kouakou Bandama, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to France to salute the excellent cooperation between his country and France. But also to congratulate the Ivorian diaspora for its dynamism.
The premises of the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Paris served as the setting for this celebration. Where the Ivorians of the diaspora moved in large numbers for the occasion.
“The first two decades have seen our country experience an acceleration of its development and its history as a young nation driven by an ideal of peace and a model of economic and social development without precedent in Africa. A country of great regional and sub-regional integration, enjoying long-term stability and great social cohesion, our country has experienced the convulsions of a long political and military crisis which extended into a post-electoral crisis in 2010 and 2011”, recalled the ambassador.
Who added that if this beautiful Ivorian epic has been tarnished by the long politico-military crisis, there is reason to rejoice now with the advent of President Alassane Ouattara.
“Since April 2011, when he effectively took power, President Alassane Ouattara has worked vigorously to redress Côte d’Ivoire and bring together all Ivorians. These efforts, supported by the common will of all Ivorians to find peace, have made it possible to gradually make significant progress in the process of reconciliation”, rejoiced the former Ivorian Minister of Culture and Francophonie.
The diplomat justifies his satisfaction with the return of almost all political refugees and exiles, the end, by the UN, since June 30, 2022, of the status of Ivorian political exile in the world, the return of President Laurent Gbagbo in his native country, the revival of political dialogue, the unfreezing of the accounts of many political figures, the audience granted to President Laurent Gbagbo by President Alassane Ouattara at the presidential palace, the summit meeting of Presidents Henri Konan Bédié, Laurent Gbagbo and Alassane Ouattara on July 14.
“To these measures which will strengthen peace and reconciliation, President Alassane Ouattara has issued decrees of pardon”, added the diplomat.
Also, he said, despite the recession due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine, to cope with the high cost of living, the Ivorian head of state has taken decisive measures which will relieve the populations. These measures, despite the crisis in Côte d’Ivoire, represent several hundred billion CFA francs.
“As you can see, dear compatriots, the united Ivory Coast is a reality”, rejoiced the Ambassador. “Sharing the fruits of growth is a reality with the Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara and his government led by Prime Minister Patrick Achi. We affirm our pride to the President of the Republic, to the Prime Minister and to all the members of the government for the excellent work carried out for the benefit of our country”, greeted Maurice Kouakou Bandama.
