Central Africa Republic: Minister Of Finance And Budget Ensures Safety And Continuity Of Trade On Bangui-Beloko Corridor After Failed Attack

At the start of this day on Monday, September 18, 2023, the Minister of Finance and Budget Hervé Ndoba brought together his close collaborators, in the conference room of his department, in order to take stock of the second attack on the customs post of Beloko in less than a year.

Indeed, this Monday, September 18, around 1 a.m., an armed group identified with elements of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC) attempted to sabotage the installations of the Beloko customs post. This armed attack failed, thanks to the vigilance of elements of the defense and security forces who put up robust resistance to this attack.

Following the meeting of the Minister of Finance and Budget with his close collaborators and the report of the Director General of Customs and Indirect Duties Frédéric Théodore Inamo, no loss of human life or material damage was recorded.

The situation is under control of the defense and security forces. To this end, the Minister responsible for Finance and Budget reassured users, local residents and the Central African population of the measures taken by the government to further strengthen security on the Bangui-Beloko corridor.

Furthermore, he instructed the director general of customs and indirect rights to do everything possible to ensure the continuation of trade via this corridor, because the government is working quietly on the security issue concerning the Bangui-Beloko corridor which , is a nerve center for the national economy.

It should be remembered that on January 21, 2023, a similar attack on the Beloko customs post caused significant material damage. This is why the government has strengthened the security system in the border town of Beloko in order to face any possible threat.
