On Saturday the 23rd, the Beira Mar team became the winner of the non-federated football tournament in the municipality of Tarrafal de São Nicolau, by beating the Chã Poça team in the final, 2-0.
According to Inforpress, the end of the tournament, promoted by the Tarrafal City Council, was played at the Orlando Rodrigues stadium, with the two goals of the match being scored in the first half.
At the end of the match, Marco Évora, captain of the champion team, appeared “satisfied” highlighting that the team is made up entirely of young players, which “highlights the achievement”.
In turn, the sports councilor of the Tarrafal City Council, Adir Cruz, highlighted that this sporting activity promoted by the city council comes in line with the promotion of sport in the municipality and as a way of occupying young people’s free time and avoiding “that lose through less positive paths such as the use of drugs and alcohol”.
The tournament took place over a month and saw the participation of 10 teams from all locations in the municipality of Tarrafal, according to this newspaper’s source.
