Cape Verde and Romania launch cooperation

by admin-anb

The Presidents of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, and Romania, Klaus Iohannis, exchanged decorations yesterday at the beginning of the State visit to the archipelago, as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

“I hope there will be a before and after of this visit”, said José Maria Neves, after presenting his Romanian counterpart with the Amílcar Cabral Order, First Degree, and receiving the National Star Order of Romania.

The exchange of distinctions took place at the Presidency Palace, in Praia, justified by the contribution of each of the Heads of State to the strengthening of relations between the two countries. Romania was the destination for many Cape Verdeans who sought higher studies after independence, recalled José Maria Neves, who now hopes that cooperation will reach other levels in areas as diverse as new technologies or agriculture.

“I presented the new strategic approach in the special relationship with Africa”, said Klaus Iohannis, quoted by Lusa, in an allusion to the conversation he had with his counterpart. During his stay, the Romanian Head of State will sign three memoranda.
