Al Ahly Gears Up with Confidence for Clash Against Belouizdad in CAF Champions League
As the defending champions, Al Ahly held a rigorous training session at Cairo’s Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium ahead of their imminent face-off against Algeria’s Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League Group D match.
Expressing optimism, Mohamed El Shenawy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper and captain, exuded confidence about their upcoming encounter. “We know it’s a tough game, but we’re focused on securing the three points. Despite the challenging conditions we faced previously against Young Africans, we had a positive result. Each player is completely concentrated, and we aim for victory,” emphasized the skipper.
Belouizdad’s head coach also acknowledged the significance of the match. “It’s a crucial game; they’re aiming to recover after their previous loss, and so are we. The group is wide open, and every point matters at this stage. Our approach remains consistent, regardless of the playing venue. Maintaining concentration is key,” stated Marcos Paquetà, the coach of Belouizdad.
This match will mark the inaugural encounter between Al Ahly and the Algerian side. Al Ahly boasts an impressive record, clinching the championship a record 11 times. Conversely, Belouizdad has yet to secure a victory in the CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly currently leads the group with four points from the initial two games, holding a slim advantage over both Belouizdad and Ghana’s Medeama by a single point, while Tanzania’s Young Africans trail at the bottom.
