Burkina Faso: The State Gains International Support For Stabilization And Development At UN High-Level Meeting

Burkina Faso organized on Friday September 22 on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, a side event jointly prepared with the United Nations resident coordination in Burkina Faso.

This high-level meeting was intended to be a framework for presenting the Action Plan for Stabilization and Development and to see how funds could be mobilized to support this plan, which remains a priority in Burkina Faso.

“Holding this event was to mobilize partners, some of whom made announcements to support Burkina Faso,” said Olivia Rouamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad. Moreover, in terms of support, the Fund for the Consolidation of Peace announced support amounting to 15 million dollars to support Burkina Faso.

As a prelude to this meeting, a United Nations intermediate action plan for Burkina Faso was put in place. This supports the Action Plan for Stabilization and Development, said the head of Burkinabe diplomacy.

This high-level meeting, at the initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs, recorded the participation of high-ranking personalities including members of the government constituting the Burkinabè delegation and Mrs. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group. As for partner countries, we note Russia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, officials from United Nations agencies and NGOs such as Catholic Relief service.
