The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youth Day was celebrated this Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Ouagadougou. The objective of this day is to contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of young people through their voluntary engagement in development actions.

The ministry in charge of youth celebrated the youth day of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), under the theme “Youth volunteering and social responsibility”.

The celebration of this day will be marked by the hosting of two panels, namely on youth volunteering, social responsibility and also on the national volunteering system in Burkina Faso, and the importance of integration and networking.

Moumouni Dialla, president of the national youth council, highlighted the importance of youth volunteering in the development of a country.

“The engagement of youth is imperative to the development of our countries. This is why we question youth volunteering to propel and bring productive youth who contribute to the development of our country ,” he indicated.

He indicated that the contribution of youth must be accompanied and supported by vocational training and the creation of jobs for young people.

Aristide Ouédraogo, representing the ministry in charge of foreign affairs, reminded young people of their duty in building social cohesion in Burkina Faso.

“You have a duty, that of working for social cohesion, promoting the rule of law, consolidating peace and securing the country,” he stressed. For him, youth is the best time of life when young people have all the potential, the possibilities, all the resources to have everything.
