Newly promoted Botswana Premier League outfit Matebele FC are in Namibia to engage in a pre-season football festival in Windhoek.
Matebele FC are coached by Namibian tactician Woody Jacobs, who brought the team to Namibia to prepare for their debut Botswana topflight campaign, which kicks off later in September.
Likewise, the Namibian clubs in the tournament – Young African, Orlando Pirates and Ongos – will use the platform to work on combinations ahead of the start of the domestic season.
The visiting side took on Okahandja United FC on Thursday, recording a 2-1 victory over the Garden Town boys from Okahandja.
Okahandja United FC chairperson Johannes ‘Congo’ Hindjou applauded Jacobs for bringing Matebele FC to Namibia.
“I am very happy and thankful to Jacobs, and that the pre-season matches are extremely important for the Namibian teams, as you know most of the clubs have kicked off with preparation for the upcoming season.”
Matebele FC will on Saturday play Young African FC, Orlando Pirates FC and Ongos FC. While other friendly matches include Nampol FC vs Unam FC and Ongos FC vs Orlando Pirates FC.
