Angola: President João Lourenço Highlights SADC’s Progress At The UN

The Head of State, João Lourenço, said, this Monday, in New York, United States of America, that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region has made notable progress in implementing regional cooperation and integration priorities , outlined in Vision 2050 and the Indicative Strategic Plan for Regional Development 2020-2030.

João Lourenço made this statement, when speaking at the Summit on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as part of the High-Level Week of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, in his capacity as Acting President of SADC.

“Our advances could have been more significant and more expressive, if we had not had to deal with the global crisis and others specific to our region, which forced us to divert our attention from the central issues of development, in order to face them” , noted the President of the Republic.
