Opened last Saturday, at Centro Cultural Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in Catete, with the ninth edition of the International Gastronomy, Culture and Arts Fair, Festineto promotes, in several locations in that municipality, lectures, music concerts, theater shows, book and plastic arts exhibitions.
The executive director of the António Agostinho Neto Foundation (FAAN) told Jornal de Angola on Saturday that Festineto 2022 will have as its highest point the holding of a conference on the life and work of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, addressed the youth. Amarildo da Conceição said that the conference will take place next Friday at Centro Cultural Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in Catete, and highlights the holding of debates on the figure of Neto.
In the colloquium, in which the speakers will be national and foreign scholars, the position of the Founder of the Nation as a politician, man of culture, science and family will be reviewed.
According to the executive director of the António Agostinho Neto Foundation (FAAN), this edition of Festineto takes place exceptionally in October.
Unlike the previous edition, the activities are concentrated in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, the place where the Founder of the Nation was born, having justified that the festival was designed to take place only at the Centro Cultural Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in Catete. “They had to expand due to complaints that we were targeted by associations, cultural promoters and artists, about the excessive concentration of festivities in a single location”.
In past years, he said, it was understood that it was necessary to expand activities because we are talking about a man in whom every Angolan, in the country and abroad, sees himself in him. Therefore, he continued, in previous years there were some exceptions, which forced us to leave the perimeter of Icolo and Bengo, in particular, and Luanda in general. “It was worth it for allowing us to share the life and work of the Founder of the Nation”.
The executive director of FAAN highlighted the need for the land he saw to be born Agostinho Neto, as it is a historic space. “It would be a good opportunity to invite people to visit Icolo and Bengo, as it is rich in stories linked to the Founder of the Nation.
On the other hand, he considered the ninth edition of the International Gastronomy, Culture and Arts Fair to be positive, taking into account the participation of the public, with numbers of around more than a thousand visitors, both national and foreign. “There was a mix of people of various nationalities who certainly tried to get to know each other better, which is positive”.
