The environmental organization Greenpeace and 50 scientists called on African governments to boost the transition to renewable energy, two days before the start of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), in Dubai.
In a letter sent today to the EFE agency, Greenpeace and scientists highlight that African citizens “are feeling the heat and experiencing drought, the instability of food supplies and prices, the boiling of the oceans and the impact of the decline in forests”.
“The world is literally burning,” they write.
“Floods, cyclones and forest fires are becoming less predictable and more intense, destroying lives and displacing tens of thousands of people as the climate crisis worsens”, they add, according to the same source.
