Karpowership SA Gains Environmental Authorization for Saldanha Bay Facility

by admin-anb

Karpowership South Africa (SA) has secured environmental authorization for the development of its 320 MW Saldanha Bay project by South Africa’s Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.

Located in Western Cape, the project aims to strengthen the country’s ailing grid and is one of three gas-fired plants under development by Karpowership SA – a subsidiary of Turkish powership builder and operator, Karpowership. Floating gas-to-power projects are currently underway at the ports of Richards Bay and Ngqura and will leverage imported liquefied natural gas as the fuel source.

According to a statement from the company: “We remain committed in adhering to all remaining requirements as mandated by the Independent Power Producers office to reach financial close for our projects and to bring an innovative solution that will help eliminate load shedding and enable inclusive economic growth.”
