One of the opposition candidates in the presidential elections in Madagascar announced, Sunday, that he has appealed to the country’s Supreme Constitutional Court to demand the annulment of the electoral act that gave victory to the outgoing President, Andry Rajoelina. “I submitted two requests to request the cancellation of the vote and the disqualification of Andry Rajoelina,” Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko told AFP, denouncing “electoral fraud.”
Andry Rajoelina was re-elected President of Madagascar, a semi-presidential Republic, in the first round of an electoral race with ten opposition candidates who called for a boycott and whose electoral results presented by the electoral commission do not recognize.
The participation rate in the vote was just over 46%, a drop compared to the previous presidential election in 2018. “What results? What elections?”, replied a representative of the collective in opposition to the AFP when asked about the victory of Rajeolina.
