Three out of the four African teams participating in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup have progressed to the round of 16. Mali, Morocco, and Senegal are seeking to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Advancing from the six groups of four, the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, have entered the round of 16.
Mali, who finished second in Group B, will battle Mexico, the second-placed team in Group F, for a spot in the quarter-finals. Their match is set to take place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 15:30 (UTC+7).
Following that, Morocco, topping Group A, will face Uzbekistan, a team that qualified as the third-placed squad in Group B. Their match will commence at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium at 19:00 (UTC+7).
Senegal, securing second place in Group D, will play against France, one of the two teams that have remained unbeaten in the tournament since its start on November 10. This clash is scheduled for November 22 at 19:00 (UT犀利士 C+7) at the Jakarta International Stadium.
Unfortunately, despite a victory against South Korea, Burkina Faso was eliminated from the tournament after suffering losses against the USA and France, finishing on the penultimate spot with 3 points.
Indonesia, despite strong home support and its first World Cup appearance in over 80 years, was eliminated following a loss to Morocco, alongside draws against Ecuador and Panama.
This World Cup features a total of 24 teams and will see a total of 52 matches played. The final match is set for December 2 in Surakarta.
Nigeria leads with 5 titles, making it the most successful nation in the competition, followed by Brazil with 3 titles and Ghana with 2 titles.
