CV Interilhas, concessionaire of the public maritime transport service for passengers and cargo in Cape Verde, will increase the freight transport tariff by 25% from Sunday, it announced in a statement.
“CV Interilhas considers that this average update of 25% is critical to guarantee the sustainability of the passenger and cargo maritime transport service in Cape Verde”, said the firm.
At issue are “more than 17 years without updates” and “a national and international context of freight transport that has suffered significant increases in costs”.
“The current tariff does not reflect the reality of the market and is completely out of adjustment”, he highlighted.
CV Interilhas is a Cape Verdean shipowner, established in 2019, with which the Government of Cape Verde established a concession contract, for 20 years, for the public maritime transport service of passengers and cargo between islands.
The company is made up of 12 shipowners, of which the Portuguese ETE Group holds 51% of the share capital (through its subsidiaries Transinsular and Transinsular Cabo Verde), with the remainder held by 11 Cape Verdean firms.
