Rwanda: Former Police Chief Gasana, Six Commissioners Of Police, Retire

President Paul Kagame has approved the retirement of six Commissioners of Police, along with several other officers, as announced Wednesday, September 27, by the Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The list of retirees includes Commissioner General (CG) Emmanuel Gasana, who currently serves as the Governor of Eastern Province, as well as three Commissioners of Police (CP): Emmanuel Butera, Vianney Nshimiyimana, and Bruce Munyambo.

Two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), Damas Gatare and Privat Gakwaya, also retired.

Emmanuel Gasana previously held the position of Inspector General of Police, while the other five retirees have served as commissioners in various capacities.

In addition to these retirements, President Kagame’s approval encompasses the retirement of five senior officers, 28 junior officers, and 60 NCOs. It also includes the retirement of seven police officers on medical grounds and the discharge of another six officers for various reasons, as stated in the RNP statement.
