Comoros: Diplomacy And Cooperation – Saudi National Day Celebrated With Great Fanfare In Moroni

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated the 93rd Saudi National Day on Saturday, September 23 in Moroni under the slogan “We dream and we achieve”. The Secretary of State for Cooperation with the Arab world, Kassim Loutfi, congratulated the Custodian of the Holy Places and the crown prince before recalling “the strong ties which unite the two brotherly countries”.

The ceremony took place in the presence of many members of the government, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, the President of the Supreme Court Sheikh Salim Said Athoumane, the Grand Mufti, Aboubacar Abdillah Djamalilaili, the Vice-President of the National Assembly, Abdallah Said Sarouma, the great Cadi, Said Mohamed Athoumane, the governor of Ngazidja, Sitti Farouata Mhoudine, the governor of the Central Bank of the Comoros (Bcc), Dr Inoussa Imani and the chief of staff of the ‘And, General Youssoufa Idjihadi, the mayor of the capital, Abdoulfatah Said Mohamed, among other personalities.

Members of the diplomatic corps stationed in Moroni and representatives of regional and international organizations, the various bodies of the Comorian military and delegations of notables from the corners of Ngazidja, ulemas, deputies and representatives of civil society and employers public and private media took part in this ceremony.

Saudi Arabia on the international stage

The ambassador will emphasize that the kingdom’s 93rd national holiday commemorates “the fortification of the foundations of the homeland through the unification of the homeland, by the founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, May Allah have mercy on him.” Dr. Atallah Zayed A. Al Zayed recalled the history of Saudi Arabia, its creation by King Abdulaziz, and its achievements under the current leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“The unification and strengthening of the foundations of the homeland made it possible to translate national strategies, which propelled the Kingdom towards the stage of transformation and growth. This placed the Kingdom at the forefront of emerging countries,” underlined the Saudi diplomat. “These achievements are constantly visible in all areas, among which, the most important, human, economic, social, industrial, environmental, agricultural, tourist development and in particular the technology sector, as well as other essential areas which have enabled the Kingdom to achieve strategic self-sufficiency and record accelerated economic growth,” added Dr. Atallah Zayed A. Al Zayed.

The ambassador will emphasize that this period was marked in his country “by numerous global changes; the Kingdom adopts a coherent policy of international cooperation, which has strengthened its position on the international scene”, specifying that “this allowed it to play a role of influence, according to a transparent and realistic policy based on rational evaluation and on a balanced policy towards all issues, promoting a culture of strengthening world peace”.

Comoro-Saudi relations

The Saudi diplomat praised “the efforts” undertaken by the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques “at the heart of this ambitious vision of the Kingdom 2030”. He adds: “The Kingdom has thus become one of the strongest emerging economies regionally and internationally, thanks to Allah and then to sound policies, foundations and procedures relevant, under the leadership and guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Prime Minister, may Allah protect and assist them.” Dr. Atallah Zayed A. Al Zayed also recalled the role played by his country on the international stage as a major actor”, characterized “by its rational positions during its participation in major world gatherings”,

He relied on “the humanitarian initiatives of the United Nations, convinced of the importance of the role and of international assistance.” The ambassador recalled “the United Nations special envoy to Yemen with the aim of achieving reconciliation” in this country. He also announced “the Jeddah platform to resolve the crisis in Sudan”. Dr. Atallah Zayed A. Al Zayed spoke of “a meeting held in Jeddah on the subject of the Russo-Ukrainian war” before emphasizing the kingdom’s support “for global initiatives in the face of multiple challenges such as epidemics, climate, environment, education and the fight against poverty in the most threatened regions in the world.

The Emerging Comoros Plan by 2030

On bilateral cooperation, the ambassador recalled relations “based on values ​​and foundations established since distant times”. He adds: “The two peoples being united by historical ties, continue the exchange of visits at all levels between the two countries. The Kingdom has rushed to support the development of the Union of the Comoros. The traces of this support are obvious, whether in terms of infrastructure, construction and public services.
The Saudi diplomat will indicate that this cooperation “has greatly contributed to the training of Comorian executives, by granting free scholarships to its children in certain specializations, in addition to constant humanitarian support”.

Dr Atallah Zayed A. Al Zayed wishes to “encourage Saudi investors in the Comoros to invest in the education sector in order to raise the level of education in the Comoros”. The ambassador continues: “Two Comorian distance universities were created with investments from Saudi entrepreneurs. The embassy is also working to accelerate the process of signing a cooperation agreement between the ministries of education of the two countries, and to carry out the evaluation of the University of the Comoros for the accreditation of its graduates in as an Arab university”. Congratulating the good relations between the two countries, the ambassador reiterated his country’s support for the “Emerging Comoros Plan for 2030″ launched by His Excellency President Assoumani Azali”, stressing that the ‘Saudi Arabia,

He paid tribute to the Head of State, Azali Assoumani, current president of the African Union after the accession of the pan-African institution to the G20 and his efforts to find solutions to the continent’s various problems. “This momentum constitutes a criterion for the success of Comorian diplomacy on the continental scene, thus providing access to new horizons in favor of the sustainable development of the country. In addition, the organization of the Arab-African and Saudi-African Summits next November in Riyadh will increase the importance of the Comorian presidency of the African Union,” he underlined.

The Secretary of State for Cooperation with the Arab world, Kassim Loutfi, welcomed “the efforts of the Kingdom, led by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aimed at stimulating development and economic prosperity which promote security, stability, peace and prosperity, in order to contribute to building a better future for generations to come.” He adds: “The National Day marks the culmination of a process of construction and development thanks to which the Kingdom achieved a global economic renaissance that helped improve the standard of living of its citizens.
