Mauritius: Recycling Exhibition And Sale – Dorine Chukowry Promotes Green And Sustainable Entrepreneurship

The Minister of Trade and Consumer Protection, Dorine Chukowry, inaugurated a day of exhibition and sale of recycled products at the Petite-Rivière Social Welfare Center this weekend. The event was organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality on the occasion of World Entrepreneur Day. The aim is to raise awareness of environmental issues, including ways to reduce the negative impact of human activities on nature, and to promote entrepreneurship through a platform for entrepreneurs to exhibit and sell their products.

Various associations of women, people with disabilities and NGOs presented their products made from recycled materials. Different Stakeholders were also present to provide participants with information about their services and projects. These included the Ministry of Environment, National Women Entrepreneur Council, SME Mauritius , National Cooperative College, Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, Development Bank, among others.

Conferences were organized during this day on several topics such as the circular economy and environmental protection, the programs available for potential entrepreneurs and the facilities offered to businesses.

Speaking, Minister Dorine Chukowry welcomed the initiative which “ focuses on creativity and innovation as key drivers of sustainable and green entrepreneurship ”. She emphasized the importance of work and determination to successfully develop a business, while highlighting the numerous programs implemented by several public institutions to support budding entrepreneurs.

The Minister of Commerce also stressed the need to base any business on honesty and integrity. She highlighted the ministry’s role in ” enforcing and enforcing laws by business owners, retailers and merchants . “
