From October 7 to 10 in Singapore, national robotics teams will compete in the “FIRST Global Challenge”. For this edition, delegations from 190 countries including Mali are expected. The teams are working on the theme of “the importance of renewable energies”, and their potential to create a better future for all.
After Geneva last year, Mali will be in Singapore this year. On site, the Mali team nicknamed the “Black Panthers” will have the opportunity to compete against the best teams in the world. Our national team is made up of 23 members, including 14 girls, all aged 16 to 18. For four months now, young people have been preparing the competition to send five of its best members to FIRST Global Challenge 2023 who will defend the colors of Mali.
In reference to the theme of this edition, the “Black Panthers” are working on hydrogen. Our team is thinking about finding new solutions that will make it possible to use hydrogen to produce clean energy. In collaboration with a Malian expert, a doctoral student in France, on hydrogen and the National Office for Petroleum Research, the national team worked on a project called “Blue hydrogen Harmony”. The project describes how Mali can make the most of its natural hydrogen.
The Mali national team is coached by DoniFab, in partnership with Tilwalte Peace Network, iNERDE, the African Institute of Management (IAM). The godmother for this edition is Assétou Founè Samaké, Special Advisor to the President of the Transition and former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Mali.
