The Director General of the National Police, Brigadier General Commissioner Soulaïmane TRAORE presided over an exceptional ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Brigadier General Daoud Aly Mohammedine, on Thursday August 07, 2023, devoted to the exit of 3,239 militarized police non-commissioned officers.
This major event brought together the highest dignitaries of the State as well as families, happy to see their loved ones ready to save lives.
According to the Director General of Police, this seasoned militarized contingent of 3,239 NCO students including 2,225 male personnel and 1,014 female personnel has, for the first time in Mali, benefited from specialized themes and modules carefully defined and developed taking into account the security aspects of the moment and the needs of the population.

These include, in particular, the fight against terrorism and jihadism, the fight against human trafficking, the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, the management of law enforcement, techniques and actions intervention and protection professionals, combat first aid (“protect yourself to better protect”), detection and prevention of improvised explosive devices, the concept of community policing and territorial intelligence, human rights, rights of armed conflicts and gender-based violence, as well as police ethics… All these modules were reviewed during all the training sessions.
The promotion of 3,239 student non-commissioned officers bears the name of the late Chief Warrant Officer ANTANASE KONÉ, who died in service, an intrepid warrior who put up fierce resistance to terrorists during the attack on the Hèrèmakono checkpoint. It was while trying to save his vehicle equipped with a collective weapon that he received several bullets and he succumbed to his injuries.
His example must inspire these young non-commissioned officers to fight with determination to stem the scourge of terrorism in our country. Reason why the highest authorities decided to name the promotion after the name of this valiant soldier of the national police. Hence another exception from this contingent.
The Director General of the National Police, Brigade General Commissioner Soulaïmane TRAORÉ underlined the importance of this workforce, the largest having benefited from police and military training, never recorded since militarization. Its recruitment and training are proof of the desire of the Transition authorities to strengthen the network of the territory through units experienced in combat and the defense of the territory. The Minister of Security and Civil Protection was also commended by the DG for his hard work in modernizing the police.
During the ceremony, the first three (03) of the promotion received their certificates from the hands of the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, the Director General of Police and the Chief of Staff of the Army.
Note that it is a lady who was the first in the promotion. *Her name is KADIDIATOU TRAORÉ top of her class with an average of 16.92; the second KABER ELHADJI TRAORÉ vice-major of the promotion with an average of 16.75 and finally, MOUSSA CISSÉ with an average of 16.53.
Still according to the DG of the police, “the best way to protect our personnel is to provide them with the best possible training, which will allow them to deal effectively with all the situations of insecurity that will arise, including the most improbable. It is our duty and our responsibility because our credo is “Force must always remain within the law!” Since taking office, I have not stopped saying and repeating that fear must change sides, It is not up to honest people to be afraid but rather it is up to delinquents and criminals to be afraid ” said the CEO. And to continue:
“Being a police officer means serving your country 7 days a week, twenty-four hours a day, to secure populations, particularly the most vulnerable, often at the risk of your life. Such is the honor and greatness of the police profession. Our missions are demanding and restrictive for the police officers but also for their families who are often far away from them and live with the worry of a possible accident for their husband or son. I want to have a thought for them today”.
He ended by urging the new NCOs (Sergeants) to demonstrate patience, professionalism and a sense of sacrifice in the exercise of their mission characterized, particularly by its human dimension and whose very essence is the preservation of people and property.
Note that the majority of the trained workforce will already be deployed in the various new police stations which have just been created in the regions of Mali to strengthen the national security network, increase the deployment of security forces in the Center and the North of the country. , as well as to promote the restoration and extension of state authority.
The ceremony ended with demonstrations of arresting criminals, first aid, maintaining order, handling weapons, practicing hand-to-hand combat and troop parade… A cocktail offered to the guests was ended the ceremony.
