Taiwan Commits To Forging Stronger Partnership With Africa

President of Taiwan, Dr. Ing-Wen Tsai, is scheduled to visit her ally in the continent, the Kingdom of Eswatini, on September 5 to 8, 2023.

This will be President Tsai’s second visit to the Kingdom after her first in April 2018.

The president’s visit is to showcase how Taiwan has valued the partnership with Eswatini in sustainable development, economic and social advancement, education and public health improvement, as well as medical standards.

The essence is to foster equal partnership and mutual respect between nations and mutually beneficial relations that can grow and flourish in the long run.

According to the Representative and Chief of Taiwan Mission in Nigeria, Andy Liu, this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic alliance between the two countries, as well as the independence of the Kingdom.

“Fruitful and concrete development cooperation endeavours in the Kingdom have demonstrated how Taiwan cherishes the relationship.

“With various aspects of technical assistance covering medical, public health, agriculture, education, vocational trainings, etc., Taiwan has not only expressed love, but also offered substantial and responsible support to the Kingdom for decades now.

“The Kingdom of Eswatini has always been a strong supporter of Taiwan’s sovereignty and endeavours. It supports our participation in international affairs so that Taiwan’s democracy and strength of economic development as well as technological advancement would be seen and valued by the world.

“There is true friendship of unwavering support to each other in the relations between Taiwan and Eswatini,” Liu said.

He explained that Taiwan’s goodwill and support to African partners and friends, through the gracious visit of President Tsai to the Kingdom will definitely strengthen Taiwan’s commitment to assisting African nations for a better future.

Also, the visit, he said, would symbolise resilience considering the challenges Taiwan is facing in its struggle against oppression, adding that despite the distance between Taiwan and Eswatini geographically, true friends will value each other dearly with strong commitments of mutual support.
