2023 Africa Cup Of Nations Will Be The Very Best – CAF President Patrice Motsepe Assures

The President of Confederations of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe says the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament will be the very best.

The 34th edition of the continent’s most prestigious tournament is scheduled to be hosted in Ivory Coast in early 2024.

Speaking at the official draw of the tournament on Thursday, October 12, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe applauded the host nation for the development of infrastructure.

He said he is confident that the 2023 AFCON will be the best in the history of the tournament in Africa.

“We have no doubt that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast will be the very best in the history of the tournament,” the CAF President said.

“The 24 countries that are here are winners already,” he added.

The Black Stars of Ghana are hoping to end a four-decade AFCON title drought in Ivory Coast.

Led by head coach Chris Hughton, the Black Stars will know their opponents for the group stages of the tournament at the end of the official draw tonight.

The 34th edition of the tournament, which Ivory Coast will host for the second time after the previous time was in 1984, will take place between January 13 and February 11, 2024.

Group B: Egypt, Ghana, Cape Verde Islands, Mozambique
Group C: Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea, Gambia
Group D: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Angola
Group E: Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, Namibia
Group F: Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia, Tanzania
